"Before the performance, I was afraid that the play might be ripening, and the" Soviet school "realities are not relevant. Not at all. The greed and plunder of young people in order to achieve a "better life", the importance and influence of leaders on people's minds, mechanisms of manipulation, the principle of "the purpose justifies the means" (remember the elections, and everyday business life, tensions caused by various competitions, vile labor relations ...) have not disappeared. According to the saying, "the same panel, just another dress" ...
Director and pedagogue Ieva Stundžytė, the director and teacher of the "Expensive teacher" of the performance, "neutralized" the time and place labels, the national traits of the actors - the Soviet signs and national traits are not played. <...> The performance does not aim to shock and provoke spectators, although recent public relations campaigns of the scene art highlight these goals as priorities, values.
The scenery is minimalist. The difference in the age of the players is not externally, so the teacher for schoolchildren is the older sister, having stretched the silhouette of a gray silk sweater. Volodia is a clever and valued cynic, selfish, intellectual facial manipulator with the power of an actor who may be in power structures in the future (and why there is no analogy with the Sejm in the future). does not go away? ..) Volodia's "audience", favorites - hapless thinking, hormone-stretching muscular mountain Paša, a child with a low back heart, a novice drinker, a weak-willed Vitia and an amateur of fine costumes, a girl named Lialia.
The psychological teacher's terror is developing rapidly, temperamentally, the measures are getting stronger - there is no time for the audience to watch. V. Shumilovaitė reveals the process of Jelena Sergeevna's reaction to the attack on young people: at first she does not believe that schoolchildren do not boycott; then attempts to appeal to their consciousness and conscience; warmly defends his idealistic values, the teacher's honor; fails when they take physical action - doing a search while searching for a key; Fear when it makes you choose between helping your sick mother and her principles; It involves panic when Volodia is blackmailing - violent Lialia ... At the finale, students' fervor is slowly shaking, feeling embarrassed, shameful. They perceive that the "dumped man" (only Volodia treats the situation as a "social experiment").
The Open Crystal Theater in the repertoire "Expensive Teacher" seems to be the spectacle, which also tells the young audience the unpleasant things in the mirror. Into the playful flirtation of the theater and the cozy conversation with peers, "intertwined" with different stylistics and intonation plays. Diversity helps the theater not stand up. "
